Critical Incident Support Services

Any business or organisation can be affected by a critical incident in a way that affects the normal running of its operations.  Incidents such as accidents and robberies at the workplace can easily affect the people who witness them while major incidents such as a terrorist attack could easily affect your entire workforce.  Employees exposed to an incident will often be less effective in their work roles due to the stresses that result from being in a traumatic situation.

Validium's Post-Trauma and Critical Incident Support Services are specifically designed to help employees recover from such events.  In keeping with the latest thinking on trauma treatment, we recommend the implementation of a series of post-trauma interventions.  On-site defusing on the day of the event should be followed by post incident debriefing and both are backed up by a Post-Trauma support helpline staffed by trained staff.  Psychological tests are use to pick up employees who may be in danger of developing long term trauma reactions such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and any at risk employees can then be offered an appropriate programme of specialist counselling.  All the interventions are designed to enable employees to return to being effective members of the work force as quickly as possible.

Ensuring that employees affected by an incident are able to return to normal functioning as quickly as possible has at least five major benefits:

  • The employer is fulfilling their 'duty of care'
  • Work backlog or loss of profits is minimised
  • The risk of litigation is greatly reduced
  • Positive PR and media coverage can be achieved
  • Employees feel valued and well supported and are more loyal to the company as a result

Validium can help turn an unfortunate and distressing event into a demonstration of your organisation's strength and competence.
